Sincil Bank Impact Fund


In mid-2019, COLC were successful in their funding bid for a total of £235,000 to fund a number of different projects in Sincil Bank. You can find a full list of what the amount has funded below:

Parent Support Advisor

A Parent Support Advisor named Kinga has been employed to work between both primary schools in the area. Kinga's role is based around support EAL parents with their child's needs and aspirations and to support parents with their parenting skills, as well as working with local services. Community Organiser
As part of the fund, a further Community Organiser post has been created in the Sincil Bank area. The role includes knocking on people’s doors to listen, identify and engage members of the migrant community to play an active role within their local area either through existing groups or new projects. Furthermore, the post holder brings together people speaking English as a second language to practice their skills and build confidence in a safe and friendly environment as part of a number of conversation club sessions.

Step in the Right Direction
The Step in the Right Direction programme aims to support people to seek opportunities to ‘positively move on’ in some way in their lives. This is a free and friendly one to one mentoring and coaching programme that can be tailored to your unique needs and build upon your unique strengths.

Rogue Landlord Programme
The Rogue Landlord project proactively inspects privately rented properties in the Sincil Bank and Monks Road areas to improve housing conditions and penalise those landlords that let unsafe housing. Council officers work with partner enforcement agencies to disrupt the activities of criminal landlords who exploit vulnerable migrant workers who are unaware of their housing rights. Sincil Bank Directory
A Sincil Bank directory has been put together for those living in Sincil Bank and those moving to the area. The directory gives useful information about the area and where to access local services, as well as what social activities are available in the neighbourhood. The directory will be available in five different languages, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian and Romanian.

Sincil Bank Volunteer Development Project Officer
A development project officer has been employed by the VCS to support individuals in finding employment and volunteering opportunities in Sincil Bank. If you would like help with finding volunteering opportunities you can contact Rachel Bethell on 01522 551683.

Sincil Bank Events
A number of events are being planned in the Sincil Bank area due to the funding received from the migration fund. These will take place over the coming year, finishing in summer 2020 with an outdoor cinema event and will all be free to attend.
